FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Dina Wood, a former assistant attorney general for Arkansas, White House personnel assistant and congressional campaign consultant, has been named the director of development for the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, effective Feb. 11. 

Wood will play an important role in the implementation of the College’s fund-raising priorities and institutional advancement activities. She will work closely with Charles M. Kittrell, chair of the Campaign committee for the College, and Lewis Epley Jr., chair of the University and Razorback Bands Campaign Committee. Wood will report to Clay Edwards, assistant vice chancellor for University Development, and Randall Woods, dean of the College.

The College’s goal is to raise $40 million by the Campaign’s end on June 30, 2004. As of Jan. 31, 2002, $16.4 million has been raised since July 1, 1998. The goal set for University and Razorback Bands is $5 million.

Edwards said, "We’re excited about the addition of Dina Wood to the development team. She brings an important blend of experiences to the position and we're looking forward to working with her. Dina’s experiences in Washington and Little Rock will be very helpful as we build connections with our alumni and friends. The Fulbright College has great potential and extremely loyal alumni."

Randall Woods, dean of the Fulbright College, said "Dina is an important addition to our program. She understands how important this college is to the graduates of the university. She will be an excellent advocate for our needs in the Campaign for the Twenty-First Century. I look forward to working closely with her as we build a great program of private support."

Wood earned two degrees from the University of Arkansas: a B.A. in 1985 and J.D. in 1988. Since 1988, she has held several positions at both the state and federal levels of government. She was assistant attorney general for the State of Arkansas from 1988-1990, director of special programs for the Commissioner of State Lands Office until 1993, and as White House personnel in 1996. More recently, she was the director of intergovernmental affairs for Overseas Private Investment Corporation from 1998-2000, before becoming a congressional campaign consultant in 2001. Before joining the U of A, Wood practiced law in the Rogers, Ark., firm of Cochran & Croxton.

I am looking forward to building relationships with other alumni and friends and corporations and foundations in support of Campaign for the Twenty-First Century, and beyond."

In the 2000-2001 fiscal year the Fulbright College received $2.9 million in private gift support.
