University of Arkansas Family Weekend Kicks-Off Friday; Honorary Family of the Year Announced
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – For the last decade the University of Arkansas Family Weekend has united thousands of Razorback students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff and guests on campus for a weekend of family reunions, university traditions and Razorback pride. This year, Family Weekend will be held Oct. 24-26. With more than 1,000 people signed up to participate, this year's program is the largest in history.
Among the many events scheduled for the weekend is the recognition of the Associated Student Government’s Honorary Family during halftime of the University of Arkansas-University of Mississippi football game Saturday evening. ASG has been recognizing a University of Arkansas family for 12 years, not based on monetary contributions to the university, but rather on the support the family provides students to be successful during their years on campus.
This year’s Honorary Family is the Cox family from Pocahontas. University of Arkansas student Katlyn Elizabeth Cox is a fourth generation University of Arkansas student from her family. Her great grandparents, Tola (Hite) Cox and Clement Cox, attended the university in 1919 and 1922. And the family tradition continues today. Katlyn is supported by her mother and father, Cindy and Doug Cox; her uncle Steve Cox; and her grandfather Don Cox. The family will be recognized during the halftime show of this Saturday’s game against Ole Miss.
