University of Arkansas Announces Arrangements for Atkinson Memorial Celebration

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas, the School of Law and the Washington Regional Medical Center will co-host a memorial service titled “Learn, Live, Love, Laugh” celebrating the life of the late Richard B. Atkinson, dean of the University of Arkansas School of Law.

Atkinson, 58, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 4, while attending the annual American Bar Association meeting in Chicago.

When:  2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19.

Where:  Walton Arts Center, Baum-Walker Hall, located at the corner of Dickson Street and West Avenue.

General/Media Parking:  Available in the Walton Arts Center parking lot, located west of the Center. The entrance to the parking lot is located on West Avenue.

Overflow Seating/Accessibility:  Overflow seating will be available in the Starr Theatre of the Walton Arts Center. Wheel-chair accessible seating will be available in both the hall and the theatre.

Media Accessibility: Media are asked to maintain a respectful distance outside entrances to allow mourners unobstructed entry into the building. No interviews or photography will be allowed inside the hall or the overflow room.

Broadcast media will have access to a closed-circuit feed of the service.
