University of Arkansas 'State of the University’ Message Goes Video

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — University of Arkansas Chancellor John A. White’s annual “State of the University” presentation is different this year. The chancellor decided words weren’t enough to describe the broadening scope of university activities, the scale of construction on campus, the depth of the research, and the unique ideas and opinions of faculty, students and donors. He wanted to present the university’s progress in a way that it could be seen, heard and experienced.

The result is a nearly 30-minute video, produced by the office of university relations staff, narrated by the chancellor and starring the University of Arkansas, its students, faculty, staff and supporters.

“In this production, we are able to more thoroughly show the rapidly growing state of this great university,” said Tysen Kendig, associate vice chancellor for university relations. “In addition, through streaming video technology and DVD, we also can bring that message to a larger number of stakeholders at their convenience -- far more than we have been able to reach via a traditional address."

DVD copies of the “State of the University” are being provided to every administrative and academic department on campus, as well as to the Arkansas news media. The video will air several times this fall on UATV, and will be available in streaming video format on the chancellor’s Web site at http://chancellor.uark.edu .
