UA'S RAZORBACK ROAD SET TO CLOSE TEMPORARILY

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Razorback Road on the University of Arkansas campus will be closed for at least two weeks, beginning Monday, July 16.

The road will be closed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, between Maple Street and Meadow Street, due to construction on the west side of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

Gary Crain, University of Arkansas Police Department public safety commander, said the U of A is closing the road for safety reasons.

"Heavy equipment will be in operation that could be a potential risk for drivers passing by," he said. "The last thing we want to happen is for someone to get hurt."

According to UAPD officials, Stadium Drive on the east side of the stadium will be accessible for drivers, but they recommend taking off-campus alternative routes because Stadium Drive is still gravel in portions and can't handle heavy traffic.

In driving to campus, UAPD recommends that drivers from the south and east take South School Street to Dickson Street. Those coming from the north and west should take I-540 to Wedington Drive.
