UA WALTON COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION ONE OF THREE TO RECEIVE $10,000 GRANT
Procter and Gamble dedicates funds toward Partners in Progress Program
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Procter & Gamble has awarded the University of Arkansas Sam M. Walton College of Business Administration a grant of $10,000 for the Partners in Progress program. This grant is one of only three given throughout the nation.
"As we have in past years, we'd like this money go toward providing the resources and equipment for the Partners Program, which we've established between the University, Wal-Mart and P&G," said Tom Muccio, vice president of customer business development for P&G Worldwide. "Procter & Gamble has been instrumental in making this program successful."
Partners in Progress, is a hands-on experience for students in the classroom in which a Walton faculty member and an executive from a company, like P&G and Wal-Mart, co-facilitate the class. The students are given a real problem, challenge or project from the company to work on and subsequently present findings to the company.
Upon notifying Doyle Z. Williams, dean of the Sam M. Walton College of Business Administration, of the gift Muccio said, "The highest grant P&G provides in our community grant program is $10,000, and the University of Arkansas was one of only three universities to get the $10,000 grant.
"We're proud that P&G has allowed us to continue with the University in this program, and we continue to hope that it will be one that continues to grow over the years."
The check presentation will be made on Thursday, March 4, 1999 in the atrium of the Donald W. Reynolds Center for Enterprise Development at 2 p.m. Procter & Gamble and Wal-Mart representatives will be present as well as students who have been involved in the Partners in Progress program.
