UA WALTON COLLEGE ALUMNI HONOR MARKETING FACULTY MEMBER

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Two former doctoral students in the Sam M. Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas, have funded a cash research award in honor of John D. Ozment, professor and Oren Harris Chair in Transportation. Scott Keller, PhD ’98, and Daniel Lynch, PhD ’98, will contribute a $500 cash award over each of the next five years.

The John Ozment Doctoral Student Research Award will provide an incentive and recognition for outstanding research conducted by doctoral students in the marketing and transportation department in the Walton College.

Both Keller and Lynch are assistant professors in the department of marketing and supply chain management at the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University, East Lansing, Mich.

Tom Jensen, chair of the Walton College’s marketing and transportation department and Wal-Mart Lecturer in Retailing, said, "John Ozment served as dissertation chair for both Scott and Dan. They were so grateful for Dr. Ozment’s support that they have chosen to recognize him and advance graduate student research with this award."

Ozment joined the graduate faculty of the University of Arkansas in 1986. From 1981 to 1986, he was assistant professor of marketing and transportation in the Graduate School of Business at Michigan State University. He serves as a member of the executive committee of the Mack-Blackwell National Rural Transportation Study Center, a federally sponsored center established at the University of Arkansas. He has published numerous articles dealing with transportation, logistics, and marketing, and he has served on the editorial review boards of several logistics journals.
