UA Student Alumni Board Grabs Awards at District 4 ASAP Conference

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas Student Alumni Board recently won three of the five awards presented at the District 4 Association of Student Advancement Programs (ASAP) Conference in Lubbock, Texas.

Jamie Fotioo, Student Alumni Board president, won the Outstanding Student Leader award.  The Arkansas Alumni Board’s Red Carpet Day was recognized with the Outstanding Program Award. Roo Litzinger, Red Carpet Day chair, accepted the award and was also a presenter at the conference.  Elizabeth Underwood received the Outstanding Adviser Award for her leadership of Student Alumni Board and R.E.A.L. Razorbacks, the student alumni association.

“I am proud to be affiliated with the student programs of the Arkansas Alumni Association and am thrilled that these students were recognized for their achievements,” said Robin January, assistant director of student programs for the Alumni Association. “Under Elizabeth’s leadership, Student Alumni Board has achieved its vision of producing quality programs and attracting dedicated and talented students to serve the university.”

The Student Alumni Board and R.E.A.L. (Recruiting Emerging Alumni Leaders) Razorbacks are student organizations of the Arkansas Alumni Association. Both programs act as links that inspire loyalty and involvement among current UA students and the alumni of the university.

Red Carpet Day is an annual event designed to introduce prospective students whose parents are alumni of the university to the campus. The event gives the students and their parents the opportunity to meet with UA students, faculty and staff; to tour facilities; and to inquire about the U of A.

The Association of Student Advancement Programs, a part of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, is an association of student alumni organizations at more than 300 higher education institutions across North America.

ASAP is run by students for students, with the assistance of district advisers. It has eight districts, with one student representative and one adviser from each district serving on the executive board.
