UA SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE 2ND ANNUAL FUNDRAISER CELEBRATES ITALIAN CULTURE

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- On Friday, August 20, 1999, the Little Rock Main Library will be full of the sights and sounds of Italy with "Architettando," a lecture, buffet dinner and silent auction to benefit the Rome Urban Studies Program at the UA School of Architecture, Fayetteville.

Architettando is an Italian word derived from architecture that means the planning of a special venture, and the day is sure to live up to its name.

The events begin at 11:30 a.m. at 100 Rock Street with the lecture "Italian Hill Towns: Images of an Ideal," by UA School of Architecture professor Tim de Noble, AIA. Lunch will be provided, and the cost is $10 per person.

At 7:30 p.m. the venue will move to the Main Library Auditorium and Garden for a cocktail reception, buffet dinner and silent auction. The auction will feature items including: a Cooper Properties golf lot in Hot Springs Village, a skybox to a Razorback basketball game, professional landscape architecture consulting, an Italian Dinner dinner for eight, season tickets to UALR basketball games, a block of 25 tickets to a Glacier Cats ice hockey game, a signed UALR basketball from the UALR team and more. The cost is $35 per person.

The event is sponsored by Rebsamen Foundation, Southern Reprographics, Inc., ACME Brick Company, Nabholz Construction, Professional Engineering, Inc. and SunCom.

The Rome Urban Studies Program is part of the School of Architecture's commitment to offering students the opportunity of enriching and expanding their education by studying abroad. The Rome Urban Studies Program is taught by Italian, practicing architects and artists and is directed by Davide Vitali. It is offered each semester with 18 students participating. The School is located in the heart of Rome, near the Piazza Navona, so students experience first-hand, the history, culture, heritage, art and architecture of the city.
