UA Fund Raising Finds Continued Success

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas celebrated the close of another successful fund-raising year on June 30, recording $92,503,631 in private gift support, as announced by Chancellor John A. White.

“This is a real testimony not only to our generous benefactors, but to our vice chancellors, deans, faculty and staff that work so hard all year long to attract private support to the University. Fund raising is a most important part of the fabric of this institution. I am particularly grateful to the division of university advancement and the office of development for another banner year,” White said.

The total includes actual dollars and in-kind gifts received during the fiscal period from July 1, 2005, through June 30, 2006, and excludes any pledges of gifts made during that time. Last year, fiscal year 2005, the University of Arkansas raised $126.9 million during the final year of the Campaign for the Twenty-First Century.

“It is really extraordinary to be able to announce these totals, particularly in a non-capital campaign year. Typically, private gift support will decline immediately after a major fund-raising campaign, but due to the generosity of alumni, corporations, foundations and friends we have been able to maintain very high levels of private giving. We are most grateful to the thousands of people who contribute to the well being of the university,” said G. David Gearhart, vice chancellor for University Advancement.

Of the $92.5 million raised for academic and athletic programs in 2005-2006, 12 percent came from individual alumni and friends, 45 percent came from corporations, 25 percent came from foundations, 7 percent came from planned gifts such as bequests, and 11 percent came from other organizations.
