UA Endowment Holdings Increase 10 Percent in FY05
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas endowment holdings rose to $691,523,660 at the close of both the Campaign for the Twenty-First Century and the 2004-2005 fiscal year on June 30, 2005. The total is approximately 10 percent higher than the $626 million reported one year earlier.
Vice Chancellor for University Advancement G. David Gearhart said: “The Campaign for the Twenty-First Century was a major force in building the university endowment. Now, even though the Campaign has ended, we are seeing the effects that endowed gifts have on the endowment’s bottom line. The final year of the Campaign was full of activity and generous philanthropy, particularly in the final weeks as we edged closer to the finish line. We must maintain this forward trajectory and continue to boost our endowment even more if we are to achieve Chancellor White’s long term goal of an endowment of $1 billon by 2010.
“Additionally, we are most grateful to the chancellor, the vice chancellors, the deans, faculty, the directors of development and our incredible volunteers who have been tirelessly seeking support from our benefactors during the Campaign for the Twenty-First Century. Their marvelous giving has augmented our endowment, pushing it to new heights. We should also acknowledge the University of Arkansas Foundation, which under the leadership of executive director Jerry Moore and the foundation board, has worked diligently on behalf of the entire University of Arkansas System to steward our endowment funds in the most diligent and fiscally responsible manner. We are also appreciative of the work of Chuck Dicus, president of the Razorback Foundation.”
Jerry Moore, executive director of the U of A Foundation said, “The performance of the Fayetteville campus in fundraising gives our stewardship of the system’s funds a momentum we might not otherwise experience. It’s good for the University of Arkansas and the entire U of A system.”
