UA COMMUNITY DESIGN CENTER HOSTS COLLABORATIVE INITIATIVE FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

A meeting will take place to discuss ways and means of developing unified plans and proposals for eco-tourism and economic development for the City of Pea Ridge, the Pea Ridge National Park, the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission, Benton County and the Cherokee community. Doctoral students in the University of Arkansas public policy program will present their findings after working with the City of Pea Ridge this past semester to help develop long-range plans for physical and economic development. As part of the team’s work, these doctoral students have been exploring ways and means to take advantage of the proximity of the National Park to the City of Pea Ridge with respect to tourism and ancillary business development, including new hotels, eating establishments and retail business. Doctoral students participating in the capstone course include Jon Lofton, Linda Goodrich, Marilyn Kelley and Aaron Scott.
