U of A to Collect Donations for Victims of Hurricane Katrina

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas announced Thursday that it will team up with the Northwest Arkansas Chapter of the American Red Cross to raise funds on behalf of the victims affected by Hurricane Katrina. The storm, which made landfall at approximately 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, caused significant damage to southern coastal cities in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

A series of collection stations will also be posted at the Razorback’s Sept. 3 football game against Missouri State University. Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

Beginning at noon Friday, Sept. 2, a collection station will be posted at the fan entrance of Barnhill Arena, site of the Arkansas Lady’Backs’ 2005 C&C Services Invitational volleyball tournament.

Patrons are asked to provide monetary donations that will go toward relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Katrina living in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Donations will also be collected during the Razorback’s Sept. 10 game against Vanderbilt University. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Razorback Stadium.
