Supervisory-Leadership Series Offered

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.The Center for Management and Executive Education in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas has announced its spring 2007 Supervisory-Leadership program for Arkansas companies.

Theres Stiefer, director of the center, said, “The Supervisory-Leadership Series is designed to help managers become better leaders and help increase productivity among the people they manage. The program can help build a positive work climate, assist in managing emotions in the workplace, respond to generational differences and promote ethical decision making.”

Supervisory-Leadership comes in three 2-day segments in which participants can benefit from taking one, two or all three sections. The first segment covers influence and responsibilities, reviews the situational leadership model and conducts a self-assessment of the micromanager. The second segment deals with practical application of managerial skills and includes a profile of the emotionally intelligent manager, discussion of fluid leadership for the supervisor, and ideas for assessing and improving performance. The third segment covers ethical behavior in the workplace, the practical customer service model, resolving conflict and negotiating effectively.

“The program is ideal for managers who want to improve their people management skills,” added Stiefer. “Also, it is very helpful for team leaders with work-group responsibilities and supervisors who work with diverse employees.”
