Security, Parking for UA Commencement

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas All University Commencement ceremony will be at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at Bud Walton Arena. Arena doors will open at 7:30 a.m.

Parking is available in Lots 44, 56, 72, 73, 73A and the Stadium Drive Parking Garage. A map of the parking areas is available at http://parking.uark.edu/commencement.pdf.

 Guests attending the ceremony will be required to enter the arena through the south entrance on Leroy Pond Drive. Guests requiring special accommodation can be dropped off at the south entrance.

For security reasons all guests entering the arena must pass through a security checkpoint. Please allow extra time for this preventative measure. Backpacks or baggage will not be allowed in the arena; such items must be left at the entrance. In addition, alcoholic beverages, bottles, cans, thermoses, containers, laser pointers, outside food and drink, and noisemakers will not be allowed in the arena.

Cameras, handbags and other personal items will be inspected.

Guests will be seated in the south section of the stands, above the main floor.

Traffic note: Razorback Road from 15th Street to the Interstate 540 exits, will be closed from 10 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. on May 12 for the Joe Martin Bicycle Race. Participants coming from the south on I-540 should continue north to the Sixth Street exit. Guests who want to take I-540 after the ceremony should go west on Sixth Street to the Interstate.

Individual colleges will hold additional ceremonies May 12. The schedule is: 

Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences, 1 p.m., Pauline Whitaker Animal Science Center.  Parking is available at and around the Whitaker Center.

School of Architecture, 1 p.m., Arkansas Union Ballroom.

J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, 1 p.m., Bud Walton Arena.

Sam M. Walton College of Business, 12:30 p.m., Barnhill Arena.

College of Education and Health Professions, 4 p.m., Bud Walton Arena.

College of Engineering, 3:30 p.m., Barnhill Arena.

Parking for these events is available in lots 44, 56, 72, 73, 73A and the Stadium Drive Parking Garage.
