SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE ANNOUNCES NEW APPOINTMENTS

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The University of Arkansas School of Architecture is pleased to announce several administrative changes that were effective July 1.

Michael Buono will continue in the position of Interim Dean until Daniel Bennett returns to the School in January, 2000. Buono has been a longtime faculty member at the School, and has served as architecture director, associate dean and acting landscape architecture chair. He has been responsible for many outstanding initiatives which has greatly improved the educational quality of the School's programs.

Dr. Ethel Goodstein has assumed the duties of the Associate Dean. In this position, she is responsible for overseeing the scholarship and research components of the School, the recruitment and retention of students, and academic advising. In addition, she will continue to teach to teach in her area of expertise, architectural history and theory.

Professor Jeff Shannon will serve as the architecture department's interim chair while David Buege is on off-campus duty assignment and teaching in the School's Rome Program for 1999/2000 academic year.

In landscape architecture, David Lewis will act as an assistant to chairperson Karen Hanna. His work will help facilitate the management of Garvan Gardens in Hot Springs.

Charlotte A. Taylor has been appointed to the position of Director of Development in the School of Architecture. Previously Taylor was the Department Planning Director in the UA Horticulture Department. She has also held the positions of Executive Director for the Alpha Delta Pi National Sorority in Atlanta, Georgia and the Director of Development for the Austin Symphony Orchestra in Austin, Texas.

In addition, architectural historian Dr. Kim Sexton will be joining the architecture faculty. She received her PhD from Yale University and has taught at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. She is a specialist in Renaissance architectural history with a special interest in civic space.
