Quarterly Business Analysis Breakfast
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Center for Business and Economic Research in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas is partnering with the Northwest Arkansas Chamber of Commerce to host the Quarterly Business Analysis on Tuesday, Nov. 28. The breakfast event, open to the public, will be held from 6:45 to 7:50 a.m. at the Holiday Inn, 1500 S. 48th St., Springdale.
Jeff Collins, director of the Center for Business and Economic Research, will present a 30-minute program that provides statistical highlights for the third quarter of 2006, key economic trends, and short- and long-term issues facing the local and state economy.
“Continued growth, growth of the kind Northwest Arkansas has experienced over the last decade and a half, depends upon continually creating new employment opportunities,” stated Collins. “New job creation is occurring; however, the industry sectors leading the way are significantly different than those of the past. Both the duration of growth and the quality of growth are dependent on the changing employment mix.”
Job creation is directly related to real estate demand both in terms of residential as well as commercial space. Of major concern is how job growth and the interest rate environment over the next six to 12 months will affect the region’s ability to absorb the current surplus.
The primary purpose of the Quarterly Business Analysis program is to build networks of leaders from business, academic and governmental sectors in the region.
“We must continue to provide accurate, timely information to key stakeholders in Northwest Arkansas,” said Collins. “Given the many needs of the region, we simply cannot afford to make poor decisions.”
The cost for the Quarterly Business Analysis program and breakfast is $15. Pre-registration by Thursday, Nov. 23, is required. Places can be reserved online at: http://cber.uark.edu/ or by calling (479) 575-4151. The program will last for approximately 50 minutes including time for questions and answers.
