KARK 4 Today Show on 'Tour' at University of Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Little Rock television station KARK, Channel 4, will be broadcasting its morning show “KARK 4 Today” live from the University of Arkansas campus from 5 to 7 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2. Co-hosts Matt Mosler, Melissa Simas and Tracy Douglass are wrapping up a six-day, seven-school “College Tour” with a visit to Fayetteville, where they will profile the university and preview Saturday’s Razorback football game against the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.

Students are encouraged to be part of the live audience for the broadcast and demonstrate that the University of Arkansas spirit is still strong, even in the pre-dawn hours. KARK-TV broadcasts are not carried on northwest Arkansas cable systems, so the only way for anyone at the university to see the program live is to be at Razorback Stadium early Friday morning. Besides getting a first-hand look at how live television is produced, those who come out will probably find themselves a part of the show, much like the audience members who stand outside the studio for NBC’s Today Show in New York City.

A “4 Today” set will be constructed on the sidewalk at the northeast corner of Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Guests on the show will include students Amy Jackson, Burt Hicks, Kelsie Moger and ASG president Nate Looney, Chancellor John White, Dean of Students Danny Pugh, admissions director Dawn Medley and Patty Metcalf, guest services director for the athletics department.

Melissa Simas visited the Fayetteville campus Oct. 15 to shoot interviews and video, and she will be presenting several taped features about the university during the two-hour program.

The show will have a special dimension for co-host Tracy Douglass, because it will give her a chance to visit with her son, Britt, a University of Arkansas student. In addition she’ll be doing live interviews with at least three students and hopes to have a chance to interact with others who come out to watch the show.
