FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The U.S. Department of Education and Department of Labor recently issued new standards for the way that colleges and universities are required to collect, maintain and report race, ethnicity and other protected data for their students, faculty and staff. The information will continue to be used to report diversity information for the campus as a whole to federal and state agencies. All individual information will remain confidential, and no individual information will be reported. The new reporting standards will give the university a more comprehensive picture of the diversity of the students, faculty and staff on campus.

“The information that the university reports to federal and state agencies is tied to such things as federal financial aid funding, as well as state funding,” said Alice Lacey, university registrar. “If the university fails to make a good faith effort to provide accurate diversity information we could lose part of that funding. This would have a serious impact on all of us at the University of Arkansas.”

To comply with the new federal reporting standards, and to get more complete information about the university’s racial and ethnic profile, University of Arkansas officials are asking students, faculty and staff to update their personal data, either in the ISIS system for students, or in BASIS for faculty and staff. Faculty and staff who are also taking courses as students are asked to update their information in both BASIS and ISIS.

Faculty and staff can update information directly in webBASIS, by going to  https://admin.uark.edu, logging in using their UARK IDs  and passwords, then going to Personal Data and then Protected Data.

Students can update their information by going to ISIS, https://isis.uark.edu, then to Student Center. In the Personal Information area go to the drop down link of Ethnicity/Race Survey. Please answer the questions and save your entry.

WebBASIS will be ready to accept changes on Thursday, Feb. 12. ISIS is already able to accept changes.
