Executive Recruiter Makes Gift of Software to University of Arkansas

Fayetteville, Ark. - Rogers couple Cameron and Monica Smith and their company Cameron Smith Associates have made a gift of enterprise software valued at $200,000 to the University of Arkansas.

The software will be used for academic support in conjunction with University Advancement.

We are grateful to Cameron and Monica Smith for their gift to support the University of Arkansas," said UA Chancellor John A. White. "Having access to current technology and software is key to our efforts to remain nationally competitive. As executive recruiters, the Smiths understand the importance of using sophisticated software to gain a competitive edge. Their gift is providing us with another tool that will do just that."

Cameron Smith Associates, based in Bentonville, is the world's largest executive recruiter for Wal-Mart vendors. The Smiths began their business in 1994 when there were 48 Wal-Mart suppliers located in Bentonville. They expanded their business, growing to 11 staff members between its Bentonville home office and a Minneapolis, Minn., branch. The company has a file of more than 10,000 resumes of pre-qualified high-level vendors. This fall, CSA launched a workshop to teach college students and career changers about interview and other job-finding skills. Cameron Smith New Ventures recently purchased a company called Bentonville Software.

Cameron Smith said, "My wife and I wanted to give back to the university that provided our children with such a tremendous education. We're big supporters for the Center for Retailing Excellence within the Sam M. Walton College of Business as well as the university research that is being done for information systems in logistics and supply chain management."

Cameron Smith attended Long Beach State University and became a professional world-class softball pitcher, playing for a show team called The King and His Court and Hollywood all-star charity teams. His son is a graduate of the Sam M. Walton College of Business and his daughter is currently a UA student.
