Executive Education Programs Announced

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Center for Management and Executive Education in the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas has announced its fall line-up of programs, designed for executives and upper- and middle-management officers.

“We spent the last year revitalizing our current programs, creating new programs and enhancing training that addresses the complex and changing needs of businesses and other organizations,” said Théres Stiefer, director of the Center for Management and Executive Education. “We believe we can provide an introspective, customized, experiential and holistic approach to executive training that makes our programming unique. The programs are designed and created by experts in their fields.”

Emerging Leaders

The Emerging Leaders Program is designed to enhance the leadership skills of professionals by focusing on trust and respect as the essence of leadership. The program uses an introspective and experiential approach to examine the leadership capacities of individual attendees, increase their ability to develop robust leadership skills, and give them greater organizational understanding. Attendees of the nine-day program are involved in activities that will impact personal and organizational performance. Participants will be prepared to integrate their learning within the organization. This three-month engagement with leaders consists of a three-day session each month.

Program Dates: Sept. 12-14; Oct. 10-12; Nov. 7-9

 
Supervisory Leadership Series

The Supervisory Leadership Series engages the participants in a lively setting, using experiential learning, case studies and simulations that are designed to examine their supervisory leadership capacities and help to leverage their strengths. The program focuses on resolution of conflict, situational leadership, fluid leadership, assessment and improvement of performance, ethical behavior, customer service and working with the different generations in the workplace. This series consists of three 2-day sessions.

Fayetteville Dates: Sept. 20-21; Oct. 4-5; Oct. 18-19

Little Rock Dates: Sept. 18-19; Oct. 2-3; Oct. 16-17

 
Just Enough Finance for Non-finance Managers

 This newly developed program is designed to train managers to incorporate financial considerations into their everyday actions. This essential program will help evaluate a unit's financial performance, will assist in better communicating with internal and external financial officers, and help to make sound financial decisions. No prior accounting or financial background is required or expected. Since finance seems like a foreign language to some, the best way to master the material is through practice. The course immerses the participants in the vocabulary and numbers as they walk through numerous applications from the real world.

Program Dates: Sept. 27-28, Jan. 31-Feb. 1

 
IT Project Management Solutions

Global projects are increasingly more common and complex as more companies have work performed in geographically dispersed locations and through offshore resources. The IT Project Management Solutions program is designed to provide the foundation and skills necessary for project managers to successfully manage and deliver projects on schedule and within budget from start to finish. The program is specifically tailored for each participating organization. The curriculum is designed to leverage the methodologies, processes and tools in use and to have the students work on their own project deliverables as part of the exercises.

Consumer Products Leadership Program
 

The Consumer Products Leadership Program is designed to provide the unique knowledge and skills of the world's best-practice leaders to drive business results in the quickly evolving, fast-moving environment of consumer goods. The Consumer Products Leadership Program efficiently and effectively builds skills to best practices in five modules. The practical "real life" based program is designed to supplement existing in-house training and development programs with a broad range of highly targeted, concentrated, instructor-led and online courses.

Disney Institute’s Keys of Excellence

This is the only Disney Institute program that travels to different locations and is offered to the general business community. Leaders, executives and managers at any level in any size organization will find value in this training. The objective of the one-day Keys of Excellence training program is to present core content from Disney’s renowned and popular professional development programs so that participants can benchmark against these best practices and discover ways to apply a little “Disney magic” to their organizations. Presented in four 90-minute sessions, representatives from Walt Disney World will share the successful business practices and unique philosophies that have made Disney a leader in creativity, quality and innovation. The program is provided in collaboration with the University of Arkansas human resources department and the School of Continuing Education and Academic Outreach.

Employment Law for Managers - Online

Employment Law for Managers covers fundamental topics of law that govern the employer/employee relationship in the United States. It is aimed at managerial and supervisory level employees, but can also be used for other employees to raise awareness of these laws. The purpose is to encourage an enhanced awareness of employment laws, in order to reduce possible litigation against an employer. The course provides the means to train a manager or other employee to become more proactive; and by being informed, to avoid possible lawsuits for discrimination or harassment. There is additional instruction in the basics of hour and wage laws, workers compensation, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other laws that specifically affect employers.
