ROGERS, Ark. -- The Arkansas World Trade Center will host Wendell Cox, principal of Demographia, a St. Louis-based public policy firm specializing in demographics, urban policy and transportation, as part of the center’s Brown Bag luncheon series, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at the Arkansas World Trade Center.

Cox will discuss his forecasts for global energy demand and trends in energy consumption in developing nations; geopolitical factors that may influence energy cost and supplies; the effects of the commercial, transportation and service sectors on energy demand; and recent progress in energy efficiency.

Cox was commissioned by the congressional Millennial Housing Commission to prepare a policy report, “Smart Growth and Housing Affordability.”  He also served three terms on the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission. The commission oversaw transit and highway policy in the nation's largest county. Cox was the only non-elected official, serving with 10 elected officials, including the mayor and the county supervisors. During that assignment, he also served as chair of two national committees of what is now called the American Public Transportation Association. He was also appointed to complete the Amtrak Reform Council. In addition, Cox served three years as the director of public policy of the American Legislative Exchange Council.
