FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas Students in Free Enterprise and Northwest Arkansas Junior Achievement will host the second annual Economics for Success business luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26. The luncheon will be at the Embassy Suites in Rogers, Ark.

Doug Degn, executive vice president of food, consumables and hardlines merchandising at Wal-Mart Stores Division, will provide the keynote address. Sponsors for 2006 include Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Sam’s Club, Del Monte Foods, Kraft Foods, Harp’s and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

The event is a fund-raiser for both the UA SIFE and the Northwest Arkansas Junior Achievement. Tickets to the luncheon are $50 per person or $500 for a table of 10. Junior Achievement is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, business and the importance of education. In partnership with business professionals and educators, Junior Achievement uses hands-on experiences to help young people understand the economics of a successful life. Through age-appropriate curriculum, Junior Achievement’s corporate volunteers provide classroom units for all eighth grade students in the Fayetteville and Springdale school districts, and all ninth grade students in Rogers School District. Junior Achievement hopes to provide this educational enrichment opportunity for students in the Bentonville School District in 2007.
