Dispelling Sexual Assault Myths

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Survivors of sexual assault will share their stories in a program called “Life Beyond Rape: Survivor Stories,” at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 6, in the Arkansas Union Room 512. The program looks at the ways in which victims deal with the trauma of sexual assault, and also seeks to dispel myths about rape, particularly those that blame the victim. This is the first in a series of activities planned on campus as part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. This event is cosponsored by STAR Central, R.E.S.P.E.C.T. (Rape Education Services by Peers Encouraging Conscious Thought) and Northwest Arkansas Rape Crisis.
