Closing Ceremony for Sand Mandala Nov. 17

The closing ceremony marking the completion of the sand mandala at the University of Arkansas will occur at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17. Those attending will first assemble in Giffels Auditorium, Old Main, where they will view a slide show of the mandala as it was being created, learn more about the spiritual and philosophical significance of such works of art and then go to the 5th floor exhibit hall. After each person views the mandala, monks Geshe Dorjee and Rinzin Dorjee will destroy it, giving vials of sand to those present and spreading the remainder in a creek in Wilson Park.
