Center to Offer Emerging Leaders Program

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.The Center for Management and Executive Education in the Sam M. Walton College of Business has announced its Winter 2007 Emerging Leaders program for Arkansas companies.

“The nine-day program is designed to turn managers into leaders,” said Theres Stiefer, director of the center. “In this fast-paced business environment, it is important that businesses develop their own pool of strong leadership. Businesses, large and small, must have succession planning to ensure continuity of the business.”

The Emerging Leaders program was created to advance the leadership skills of upper-middle managers by focusing on self-awareness, self-management, strategy development and influencing others. The program uses an introspective experiential approach to guide participants in examining their leadership capacities while learning to leverage their strengths. The course cultivates leadership talents and includes the power of managing the leader first as the primary step toward leading others effectively.

Developed and delivered by experienced faculty and seasoned organizational practitioners, successful CEOs, and organizational leaders, the Emerging Leaders program guides positive change, enhances employee dedication and creates new dimensions of strategic thinking.

Attendees of the innovative program learn to identify their own unique patterns that positively impact personal and organizational performance. Participants are challenged in simulations and supported with “live case-study sessions” to put their strengths to work and exercise them consistently to become second-nature capabilities. Throughout the Emerging Leaders program, participants develop their ability to understand systems and functions for clarifying strategic organizational issues by participating in team projects, action learning and personal coaching.

“The center has been delivering this program successfully for more than three years,” said Stiefer. “We believe it has made an impact in many key businesses in the state.”
