FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Dr. Johnetta Cross Brazzell, vice chancellor for Student Affairs, has been appointed to the board of trustees of LeaderShape Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to offering high-quality leadership programs for young men and women throughout North America. Brazzell joined the board in April 2005 and will serve a three-year term.

“I am excited to serve as a board member for this prestigious organization,” said Brazzell. “LeaderShape has been at the forefront in offering comprehensive leadership programs that nurture and encourage students to reach their greatest potential.”

The LeaderShape Institute is an intensive and energizing six-day leadership program focusing on the development of committed leaders who exhibit integrity and vision building. Program content reflects the key leadership issues of vision, partnership, integrity and results. It affords participants an opportunity to gain a deeper sense of themselves and their own strengths and weaknesses, ultimately enabling them to be more effective leaders in their organizations.

“It’s easy to see why the LeaderShape Institute at the University of Arkansas has been so successful,” said A. Paul Pyrz Jr., president of LeaderShape Inc. “Dr. Brazzell’s insight and vision to influence student leadership opportunities in a meaningful way has enabled the university’s program to flourish. We are very happy she accepted our invitation to join our team.”

Later this month, the University of Arkansas will host more than 50 students at its second annual LeaderShape Institute at the Mount Sequoyah Retreat and Conference Center in Fayetteville. Among the organizations represented at LeaderShape will be Associated Student Government, Orientation, Greek organizations, Silas Hunt Scholars and representatives from a broad array of registered student organizations. The LeaderShape Institute is managed within the Division of Student Affairs and operates within the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership at the Arkansas Union. The LeaderShape program will take place May 16 through May 21.
