Bookstores Bring U of A Closer to Customers With Help of New Informational Kiosks
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Patrons of the University of Arkansas bookstore in the Northwest Arkansas Mall now have the ability to access online information pertaining to the university and find answers to many questions with simply the touch of a button.
Thanks to a design by Ali Sadeghi, director of the UA bookstore, and King Products in Toronto, Canada, the UA bookstore now houses a new informational kiosk intended to assist curious shoppers wishing to learn more about the university. A second informational kiosk is planned for installation in the Arkansas Union later in the fall semester.
“These kiosks serve as great resources for visitors trying to better acquaint themselves with the University of Arkansas,” said Sadeghi. “This system helps visitors find their way around campus, find parking locations, get parking passes and register for classes.”
The informational kiosks provide detailed maps of the UA campus, including building and campus directories, Internet links to applicable Web sites and a direct phone line to UA offices. The system also provides a map of the UA Senior Walk, a time-honored tradition in which the university engraves the names of each of its graduates into the campus network of sidewalks.
“Instead of walking throughout campus searching for their name, graduates can now come to the bookstore, enter their name and be immediately directed to its location,” Sadeghi added.
The UA Bookstore has locations on the second floor of the Arkansas Union and on the west end of the Northwest Arkansas Mall, next to J.C. Penney. For more information, please call (479) 575-2155 or (479) 442-3525.
