Bentonville High Student Wins Area Talent Hunt

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Ashley Watts, a senior at Bentonville High School, is set to showcase her singing talents in the district level of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity’s national Talent Hunt competition. Ashley was the winner of the Northwest Arkansas Talent Hunt sponsored by the University of Arkansas’s Gamma Eta and Northwest Arkansas Upsilon Chi chapters of the national fraternity. The local competition was held March 11, 2006, at the Arkansas Union Theater. Four area high school seniors took part in the event.

“We are all very excited and proud to have Ashley Watts represent our area chapter,” said Johnny D. Jones, the faculty adviser for Gamma Eta.. “She is a very talented individual and we wish her success at the district competition.”

Ashley Watts’ vocal skills earned her an expense-paid trip to the 9th District competition next month, where she will face students from Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma. The district winner will advance to the National Grand Conclave Talent Hunt in Little Rock in July. The fraternity will award scholarships to the top three students in the final competition.
