Arkansas Water Resources Conference To Cover Variety Of Topics Concerning Local And Regional Water Sources
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Arkansas Water Resources Center (AWRC) will address a variety of important issues concerning water quality and pollution in Northwest Arkansas during an upcoming conference.
The main AWRC program on April 4 includes a variety of presentations, including a discussion of water quality impact on the endangered Ozark blind cavefish at Cave Springs, Ark.
Pollution potential assessments for over 1400 public water supplies are featured in three other papers to be delivered.
An investigation into the optimum methods for water content sampling in the Illinois River is the topic of another presentation that has a direct bearing on the goal for a 40% phosphorus reduction in that river, in a joint Arkansas and Oklahoma effort to slow eutrophication of Lake Tenkiller.
The use of constructed wetlands to mitigate the impact of swine wastes on water quality will be discussed as a best management practice.
The AWRC, part of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, is conducting this conference jointly with the Geological Society of America (GSA) April 2-5, 2000, at the Center for Continuing Education and the Hilton Hotel located in Fayetteville.
