Help Celebrate GIS Day in Northwest Arkansas
Join our local NW Arkansas GIS community on Nov. 19, 2025, and explore how spatial thinking connects disciplines, technologies and people to better understand our world.
The Northwest Arkansas GIS Users invite you to celebrate GIS Day with them at an open house event! Registration is free, and event details can be found on the "Celebrate GIS Day in NW Arkansas" page.
When: Wednesday, Nov. 19
Where: Fayetteville Police Station — Community Room — 1800 N. Stephen Carr Memorial Blvd., Fayetteville
Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event is organized primarily by the U of A Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies, or CAST, and the Department of Geosciences working in tandem with local leaders who use of global information systems technology, or GIS.
GIS Day Activities
Our event will begin with brief lightning talks from a wide variety of Northwest Arkansas GIS users. The topics will focus on GIS technologies, spatial applications and other innovative solutions benefiting the Northwest Arkansas region.
Light Refreshements provided
Refreshments will be provided but feel free to bring your "brown bag" lunch and listen to our locals talk about their work or network with fellow GIS users with interests in maps and spatial technologies.
Additional Activities
Browse maps, posters, share technical tips or just socialize with your peers. We'll have a map-centric game(s) in the afternoon, as it was a crowd favorite last year.
GIS Day offers an opportunity to socialize with others using geographic information systems or related technologies while they celebrate the impact of mapping to our society. Whether you're a seasoned mapper or simply curious about what GIS users do, this GIS day community event will begin at 10 a.m. on Nov. 19 in the Community Room of the Fayetteville Police Station.
We hope to see you there!
