Graham's 55 Years Tops Faculty, Researchers Honored at Bumpers College Reception

Donna Graham, University Professor of agricultural education and director of Bumpers College's School of Human Environmental Sciences, was honored for 55 years of service.

Eighteen faculty members, scientists and researchers in U of A's Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences were recently recognized with milestone service awards to the college, university, Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station and UA System Division of Agriculture.

    • Billy Hargis, Distinguished Professor, poultry science
    • Wayne Kuenzel, physiologist, poultry science
    • Casey Owens, professor, poultry science
  • 20-Year Award
    • Nathan Kemper, associate professor, agricultural economics and agribusiness
  • 15-Year Award
    • Kristen Gibson, professor, food science
    • Michael Kidd, professor, poultry science
    • Jacquelyn Mosley, associate dean, Bumpers College
    • Trent Roberts, professor, crop, soil and environmental sciences
  • 10-Year Award
    • Laura Herold, teaching associate professor, human development and family sciences
    • Yan Huang, associate professor, animal science
    • Neelandra Joshi, professor, entomology and plant pathology
    • Lobat Siahmakoun, senior instructor, hospitality management
    • Sabrina Trudo, associate professor, human nutrition and dietetics

In addition, Rupesh Kariyat, associate professor in entomology and plant pathology, and Michael Popp, professor in agricultural economics and agribusiness, were presented endowed chair medallions. Kariyat is the new holder of the Clyde H. Sites Professorship in International Crop Physiology and Popp the new holder of the Harold F. Ohlendorf Chair.

Several faculty were recognized for becoming first-time honors program mentors: Adnan Alrubaye, assistant professor in poultry science and cell and molecular biology; Danielle Graham, assistant professor in poultry science; Nick Johnston, assistant professor in hospitality management; Kariyat in entomology and plant pathology; Timothy Killian, associate professor in human development and family sciences; Scott Lafontaine, assistant professor in food science; Kelly Loftin, professor in entomology and plant pathology; Emily McDermott, assistant professor in entomology and plant pathology; Garry McDonald, teaching associate professor in horticulture; David Miller, crop, soil and environmental sciences; Mallori Roberts, didactic program dietetics director in human nutrition and dietetics; and Shawna Weimer, poultry science.

Bumpers College Dean Jeff Edwards also acknowledged recently promoted faculty, including Jada Thompson, associate professor in agricultural economics and agribusiness; Chris Estepp, professor in agricultural education, communications and technology; Natalie Clay, associate professor in entomology and plant pathology; Fiona Goggin, University Professor in entomology and plant pathology; Neel Joshi, professor in entomology and plant pathology; Griffiths Anungulu, professor in food science; Eunjoo Cho, professor in apparel merchandising and product development; Ryan Dickson, associate professor in horticulture; Aaron Cato, associate professor in horticulture; and Ainong Shi, professor in horticulture.

Edwards also recognized faculty who had been named Fellows of professional organizations, including Jeff Miller, Association for Communication Excellence; Nilda Burgos and Jason Norsworthy, Southern Weed Science Society; Paul DeLaune, American Society of Agronomy; Ioannis Tzanetakis, American Phytopathological Society; Kuenzel, American Association for the Advancement of Science; and Gisela Erf, Poultry Science Association.

The ceremony was held at the Janelle Y. Hembree Alumni House on Sept. 9.
