The High Density Electronics Center (HiDEC) will host a soldering and surface mount technology workshop 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 14-15 in the AT&T Conference Room at the Engineering Research Center, 700 W. Research Blvd.

The "Soldering and Surface Mount Technology" workshop will feature a half-day lecture format on Aug. 14 that covers relevant concepts and guidance for successful soldering, followed by a half-day on Aug. 15 for hands-on experience with soldering in the labs. The goal is to introduce attendees to the principles and practice of soldering and surface mount technologies to bridge the gap between coursework and the actual process of operating manufacturing tools.

The class size is limited due to space and tools available for the hands-on portion, so participants are encouraged to reserve a spot as soon as possible.

The workshop offers an opportunity to expose newer students to soldering and surface mount technology principles. The dates were specifically chosen to avoid conflicts with classes, and anyone is welcome to participate.

Registration fees defray the cost of materials and tool time:

  • $250 for students
  • $300 for staff or non-UA attendees

Snacks and lunch will be provided. The first four registrants will receive $50 off the registration fee. To sign up, email Karin Alvarado (KarinA@uark.edu).
