U of A to Host Thousands of Visitors Next Week; Parking and Road Closure Notices
The U of A will host thousands of Walmart U.S., Sam's Club and Walmart International associates for the company's annual associates' meeting next week.
Visitors will attend business meetings, concerts and other festivities across campus on Wednesday, June 4, and the Friday Associate Celebration will be held at Bud Walton Arena on June 6, starting at 8 a.m.
Below are parking and transportation announcements to keep in mind during the week.
Road Closures
Nolan Richardson Drive between Razorback Road and Stadium Drive will be accessible only to holders of event-specific parking passes on Wednesday morning and evening, as well as Friday morning. Meadow Street will also be accessible only to event-specific pass holders Monday through Friday due to the high number of pedestrians. The U of A Police Department (UAPD) will direct traffic on Wednesday and Friday.
Parking Lots
The Meadow Street Parking Garage will be closed to the public Monday through Friday. Other lots that are closed will have Walmart parking controllers at the entrances. If you have trouble finding an alternate parking location, you can call Transit and Parking Services at 479-575-7275, and representatives can help you identify where to park.
NCAA Baseball Regionals
The Arkansas baseball team will host an NCAA Regional starting the afternoon of Friday, May 30, with the possibility of an NCAA Super Regional at Baum-Walker Stadium the following weekend should the Razorbacks advance. More than 11,000 fans are expected to be in attendance for postseason games in Fayetteville.
Expect increased traffic at the intersection of Razorback Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, as well as increased visitor parking at Lot 322 (at the intersection of MLK Jr. Boulevard and Razorback Road) and Lot 500 (on Beechwood Avenue).
