Campus Community Invited to Celebrate 2025 BECRG Award Recipients at May 14 Luncheon
The Black Employees and Colleagues Employee Resource Group invites all members of the U of A campus community to a special luncheon honoring the 2025 BECRG Award Recipients. The event will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, in the Anne Kittrell Art Gallery, located on the fourth floor of the Arkansas Union.
This annual celebration recognizes outstanding individuals who exemplify leadership, unity, community engagement and legacy-building within and beyond the university.
2025 BECRG Award Recipients
Resilience in Leadership Award
This award honors individuals who lead with strength, perseverance and vision, even in the face of adversity. The recipients have consistently demonstrated adaptability and courage, inspiring those around them to remain focused and optimistic during challenging times.
Renette S. McCargo — instructor, School of Journalism and Strategic Media; executive director, Arkansas Scholastic Press Association
Derita Ratcliffe Dawkins — deputy director of athletics
Romona L. West — assistant dean of Student Success, Inclusive Excellence and Strategic Initiatives, Fulbright College of Arts & Sciences
Unity Advocate Award
This award recognizes a member who has actively fostered inclusion and strengthened community bonds.
Allan Braziel Hatch — senior graduate assistant, Ph.D. ABD. Hatch's work bridges divides and promotes understanding among diverse groups, reinforcing a culture of belonging across campus.
Community Impact Award
This recognition goes to those who extend their efforts beyond campus, creating meaningful change in the broader community. Their initiatives in social justice, education and outreach have left a lasting impact.
Airic A. Hughes — instructor, Department of History
Eric Darnell Pritchard — associate professor of English; Brown Chair in English Literacy
Legacy Award
The Legacy Award honors a lifetime of service, influence and mentorship.
Yvette Murphy-Erby — professor, School of Social Work. Dr. Murphy-Erby's dedication to uplifting others and advancing equity initiatives has left a profound legacy at the U of A and beyond.
