UAPD Honors Dispatch Team During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

The U of A Police Department (UAPD) recognizes the achievements of its dispatch team as part of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, honoring individuals who answer emergency and non-emergency calls across the nation. The UAPD Telecommunications Center is composed of the following members, five of whom are students:

  • Kayla Hatfield
  • Jennifer Castaneda-Hernandez
  • Lauren Clark
  • Nereida Ramos
  • Chloe Sandoval
  • Haley Roman
  • Spencer Hare

Highlights from the dispatch team's work in 2024 include:

  • 6,947 calls for service (not including officer-initiated)
  • 838 emergency calls for service via 911
  • 3,285 traffic stops
  • Teaching a telecommunications course for 911 dispatchers across the state
  • Instructing self-defense courses on campus
  • Ensuring sufficient staffing during on-campus football games
