Political science assistant professor Karen Denice Sebold was elected to the Midwest Political Science Council for a three-year term at the association's recent annual meeting in Chicago, Illinois. The council is in charge of the general activities of the association, arranges for the annual meeting, creates committees with appropriate powers, receives gifts and bequests, authorizes the expenditure of money and provides for auditing the accounts of the association.

"Serving on the council is important to me because I represent diversity in the academic community, representing a Southern state college, and I am a non-traditional, first generation scholar," Sebold said. "This allows me to bring a different viewpoint to our association, and I hope to offer new approaches to including more non-traditional, first generation scholars from the South in the future."
