Arkansas guard Izzy Higginbottom was named an All-American honorable mention from the United States Basketball Writers Association and the Associated Press, the organizations announced on Wednesday.
The Batesville, Arkansas, native is the first Razorback to appear on either list since Chelsea Dungee in 2020-21.
Higginbottom proved to be one of the best scorers this season and ranked third nationally with 24.4 points per game, which led the SEC. Compared to the rest, she currently leads the NCAA in total points (780), leads the NCAA in free throws made (242), leads the SEC and ranks ninth in the NCAA in free throw percentage (.906) and ranks third in the SEC and sixth in the NCAA with 251 field goals. Higginbottom scored double figures in 30 of 32 appearances this season and recorded at least 25 points in 17 games including nine in SEC play, the most in the NCAA.
In her final appearance, Higginbottom scored 38 points in the SEC Tournament and surpassed Dungee to become the program's best scorer in a season with 780 points. She set new Arkansas records in scoring average (24.4), free throws (242) and field goal attempts (578) for a single season. Higginbottom also made her mark in the SEC record book, with single season records in free throws and field goal attempts. Three of her games sit in the top 10 of the highest scoring games in program history: vs. Boston College (38 points), vs. Florida (40 points), vs. Georgia (38 points).
Earlier this season, Higginbottom was placed on the Ann Meyers Drysdale USWBA Player of the Year Midseason Watch List and was one of 17 players on the Dawn Staley Award Later Season Watch List. She was the first SEC scoring leader to not be named All-SEC in the two-team format that started in 1988.
