U of A to Switch Proctoring Service for Online Courses to Improve Experience
The Global Campus

A strategic upgrade in proctoring services for online courses this summer will streamline and enhance the experience for students and faculty in online classes. The Global Campus recommends the use of a proctoring service to ensure the integrity of online course exams.

In June 2025, the Global Campus will transition proctoring services from its current provider ProctorU to Honorlock Online Proctoring for all online courses. This change is part of the Global Campus' ongoing efforts to enhance the online learning experience for students and faculty.

Honorlock offers a range of advanced features designed to provide a seamless and secure proctoring experience. Features include easy integration with Blackboard Learn and 24/7 support for both students and instructors. Honorlock services will reduce technological barriers through integration with Blackboard and will provide on-demand proctoring for students.

The Global Campus is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and will provide comprehensive support to all affected students and faculty. Informational sessions and detailed guides will be available in the coming months to assist with the transition. Tutorials and instructions will be available on the Teaching Innovation and Pedagogical Support (TIPS) site this summer.

This transition will only affect online courses. Face-to-face courses will continue to use Respondus Lockdown Browser for proctoring.
