Celebrate Archeology Day 2025 event details in flyer format.

Every March, the University of Arkansas Museum and the Arkansas Archeological Survey celebrate Arkansas Archeology Month, an annual event designed to broaden the public's interest and appreciation for Arkansas' archeological resources and to encourage public participation in conservation and preservation efforts.

This year, they have over 30 events planned and hosted by archeologists, historians and state park interpreters across the state of Arkansas, including hands-on activities for families and programs and workshops for people looking to volunteer or pursue careers in archeology. Hopefully this means that there will be something local for you to check out. You're invited to travel around and participate in events farther afield as well. You can get the full list of virtual and in-person events on our events calendar or by downloading the events flyer (note that any events submitted after the deadline are not included in the downloadable flyer but are on the digital calendar).

This year, the first Celebrate Archeology Day of the month will be held in Fayetteville at the University of Arkansas Museum building from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1. The Archeological Survey and U of A Museum are at 2475 N. Hatcher Ave. near the Washington County Fairgrounds.

Here, they'll have archeologists from the Arkansas Archeological Survey, faculty from the U of A's Department of Anthropology, members of Choctaw Nation and volunteers managing the museum's open house portion of the event, along with other volunteers. They will also have a food truck on site for an easy lunch opportunity this year. You can drop in anytime throughout the course of the event, and they encourage you to visit all 13 stations that they will have set up both inside and outside the building. If you do visit all stations, you'll be rewarded with a special limited edition Archeology Month carabiner!

The event is free, open to the public and family friendly. We hope to see you at the University of Arkansas Museum building on Saturday, March 1, and for other events throughout the month of March! Happy Archeology Month 2025!
