University Housing is pleased to announce this year's Sweet Chariot event in celebration of Black History Month. Attendees can expect to enjoy art, music and food through three consecutive events, spanning from Feb. 17 to 19. These events will coincide with the slogan Arts, Beats and Eats.

From 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, event-goers will explore the history of Black hair art, with insights delivered by a panel of Black hairstylists, artists and barbers. The Arts event will take place at the Anne Kittrell Art Gallery.

From 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, join the Beats event, a silent disco that offers a rich and versatile experience of Black music. Attendees will be able to enjoy a variety of genres and eras. The Beats event will be held at the Holcombe Living Room.

The final event, Eats, will take place from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19. In collaboration with the Multicultural Center, this event will delve into the origins of African and Black culinary traditions, featuring soul food and trivia. The Eats event will be in the Pomfret Great Room.

"Sweet Chariot is an opportunity for students and faculty to engage with Black history and culture through art, music and food," said Kaylin Oliver, hall director and event runner. "My hope is to bring people together in a meaningful way."

We invite all students and faculty to join us for this cultural and educational celebration.
