Bruno Pinto, Teaching Assistant Professor, joined the U of A Department of Agricultural Economics & Agribusiness this spring as one of the newest faculty members.

"I am very excited about engaging with my colleagues in the department, Bumpers College, and the University as a whole. I am also very excited about teaching undergraduate and graduate students and helping them achieve their goals," said Pinto.

Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Pinto earned his Bachelor's in Economics at the Federal University of Paraiba and a Master's in Applied Economics at the Federal University of Vicosa. He also received a Master's in Agricultural Economics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) and recently finished at UNL with a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics.

While at UNL, Pinto received numerous recognitions for his academic and research efforts. During his final year of doctoral studies, Pinto was awarded the Widaman Distinguished Graduate Assistant Award. This award recognizes students with high scholastic merit and research potential. He also received The Farmers National Fellowship which is a teaching award directed to students who have expressed a desire to pursue a career in the area of farm management or commodity marketing.

Starting this spring, Pinto will teach three courses: AGEC 21003 - Principles of Agricultural Macroeconomics, AGEC 21403 - Agribusiness Financial Records, and AGEC 34003 - Farm Business Management.
