The Young Democrats are hosting former U.S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln for an evening of political insight and career reflection. Lincoln, who made history as the youngest woman ever elected to the Senate at the time at age 38, will discuss her groundbreaking political career, perspectives on education, and thoughts on the current political climate.

During her tenure representing Arkansas from 1999 to 2011, Lincoln achieved several notable firsts, including becoming the first woman to chair the Senate Agriculture Committee. Her congressional career began in the House of Representatives, where she served from 1993 to 1997, building a reputation for bipartisan cooperation and advocacy for rural communities.

When: Tuesday, Feb. 4
Where: Union Room 201
What Time: 6 p.m.

The event offers students a unique opportunity to learn from Lincoln's extensive experience in public service, which spans from her early days as a congressional staffer to her influential role in shaping agricultural and healthcare policy. Her visit comes at a time when discussions about political polarization and the future of American democracy are particularly relevant to young voters and aspiring public servants.
