HR Partner Julie Brogan Named Employee of the Year for Engineering
Julie Brogan, human resources partner for the College of Engineering, was announced as the college's Employee of the Year at a faculty-staff meeting Dec. 6.
Brogan previously was named Employee of the Fourth Quarter after her nomination by the college's associate deans as well as Dean Kim Needy. Brogan was promoted from assistant to the associate deans to HR partner on Oct. 1.
"Julie is exceptionally knowledgeable, bright, professional and a true team player," said Sandra Eksioglu, associate dean for research. "Julie treats everyone with respect, is organized, helpful and a hard-working individual. She has been an invaluable resource to me and others in the Dean's Office."
Needy also described Brogan's contributions as invaluable.
"She is dependable and always gets the job done ahead of time while exceeding expectations," Needy said. "Julie also works well independently, and when she sees something that needs to be done, she just jumps right in to help."
Each of the nominators commented on Brogan's positive attitude in making a difference in her work.
"Perhaps her very best qualities are her attitude and demeanor. Julie is unfailingly pleasant and virtually unflappable," said Kevin Hall, associate dean for academics. "She provides that all-too-important first impression for visitors to the dean's suite of offices, always greeting with a smile and always helpful."
Brogan joined the U of A in 2015 and has worked as assistant to the associate deans in engineering since 2022. Prior jobs included staff positions at the U of A Division of Agriculture, Department of Biological Sciences and the Graduate School.
Brogan completed a master's degree in human resources and workforce development at the U of A in May and holds a bachelor's degree in animal science from the U of A.
