U of A Community Invited to Strategic Philanthropy Course's Dec. 10 Giving Ceremony

U of A Strategic Philanthropy students present a gift to a local non-profit in 2023.
Undergraduate students in the University of Arkansas’ fall 2024 Strategic Philanthropy course have spent the semester researching and evaluating several local non-profit organizations and will announce the beneficiary of a major gift at a Giving Ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
The U of A community is invited to attend the Giving Ceremony, which will start at 8:30 a.m. in Gearhart Hall 130.
The ceremony will include remarks from Chancellor Charles Robinson and the participating course students, who will talk about their experiences learning about effective ways to evaluate nonprofit organizations, and what it was like to research and visit eight of Northwest Arkansas’ successful and effective 501(c)(3) groups.
The students will then present a check of about $30,000 to a local nonprofit organization.
The course held a similar ceremony last year, and each year the ceremonies put into action the course’s mission statement “to learn and implement impactful philanthropic practices.
The Strategic Philanthropy course is a partnership between the U of A’s Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences and its Sam M. Walton College of Business, as well as The Philanthropy Lab. It is a designated U of A Service Learning course.
