The U of A is set to host a festive celebration of music at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, with the "Home for the Holidays" concert, featuring two exceptional ensembles: the Inspirational Chorale and Voices Jazz Ensemble. Both groups will perform under the direction of professor Lauren N. Clare, instructor of voice in the U of A Music Department.
Clare is the founder and director of the Voices Jazz Ensemble, which was established in 2022, and is currently serving as the interim director of the Inspirational Chorale for the 2023-24 academic year. The concert will take place at the Faulkner Performing Arts Center.
Tickets for this magical holiday performance are priced at $10 for general admission and $5 for students, faculty and staff.
The Inspirational Chorale, a choral ensemble founded in 1977, is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich tradition of Black sacred music. Specializing in gospel music, spirituals and works from the broader Black diaspora, the Chorale will offer powerful, soulful renditions that celebrate the depth and beauty of this musical heritage.
Joining the Chorale on stage will be the Voices Jazz Ensemble, known for its versatile performances of jazz standards, contemporary pieces and a cappella music. The ensemble's mix of musical genres promises to captivate and energize audiences with its dynamic style.
Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy an evening of heartwarming holiday music with the Inspirational Chorale and Voices Jazz Ensemble as they bring the spirit of the season to life through song.
