Academic Policies Updated
Russell A. Cothren

The following academic policies have been recently updated. A brief overview of the updates is provided below. The updated policies can be viewed at policies.uark.edu/academic.

Academic Policy 1200.30: Official Class Times

This policy was revised after a recommendation by the Faculty Senate to change two late afternoon Tuesday/Thursday class meeting patterns (4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.). Updates to this policy also established procedures related to scheduling campus mixed-mode and online mixed-mode classes to optimize classroom space allocations.

Academic Policy 1406.20: Faculty Handbook

This policy outlines the review process for yearly updates to the Faculty Handbook. This revision aligned the policy with current practice where the vice provost for Faculty Affairs chairs the editorial advisory committee.

Academic Policy 1520.10: Reasonable Accommodation and Course Substitution for Students With Disabilities

This policy was revised to comply with new federal guidelines and current U of A Center for Educational Access processes of notifications to instructors. These notifications provide an accommodation letter and instructions related to contacting the student.
