Call for Abstracts: Undergraduate Research Week Poster Competition
Undergraduate students from all disciplines are invited to submit a research abstract to the U of A's Undergraduate Research Week Poster Competition. For each of the seven research categories, a $100 prize will be awarded for first place, $75 for second place and $50 for third place. Submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025.
Abstract guidelines are available on the submission form website. Submissions will be reviewed by delegates from the Division of Research and Innovation, Honors College and University Libraries. All research is welcome, including creative and experimental projects.
Those selected for the poster round will be notified by Feb. 3 and must prepare both a poster and video to be used as part of the judging process. Students conducting humanities research will have the option of presenting a poster or a traditional research paper if selected. Posters and accompanying recorded presentations will be due by March 17.
U of A faculty will judge the poster presentations and select three winners in each category to receive cash prizes. Students will present at an in-person research symposium on April 24 that is open to the campus and community. The Honors College will print posters for all Honors and non-Honors participants.
"My experience conducting research during my undergraduate career was transformative," said Madison Price, whose poster won first place in the Education category in 2024. "It not only deepened my knowledge, but also fostered a passion for discovery that motivates me to pursue a master's degree. The research experience itself equipped me with valuable skills in critical thinking, data analysis and problem-solving, which will be instrumental for my success in graduate studies."
