University Recreation and Wellness Celebrates Its 12th Year of Campuswide Incentive Challenge
University Recreation + Wellness recently celebrated its 12th year of the campus-wide incentive challenge called Fitober. This challenge is open to the entire U of A community. Fitober is free and does not require a UREC membership. Participants were asked to log their daily physical activity during the month of October in order to win prizes.
Participants signed up individually and had the option to create a team. The team option allows peer groups to offer support and encourage each other throughout the challenge. Participants who logged 600 minutes of physical activity received a gift card from Chartwells. One hundred twelve people of the 200 participants completed 600 minutes.
"We love Fitober here in the Honors College! We all get together at lunchtime to walk over a mile around the campus each day," said Louise M. Hancox, senior director of career innovation at the Honors College and director of the Futures Hub.
The Top 10 Fitober teams:
- Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness
- Arts & Sciences (IT)
- Gym Buddies
- Honors College
- Student Financial Aid
- University Information Technology Services
- University Recreation + Wellness
- Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
- Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs (data team)
- Women's Lacrosse Club Sport
"Fitober is an excellent event that allows my team and I to get closer through working towards another unified goal," said Arlyn Brazell, data analyst for the Division of Student Affairs.
