Thought Form Collective

The second season of the free outdoor music series, Weekend Starts, is from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, featuring the percussion group Thought Form Collective. This is the 22nd and final concert of this season, all of which have featured faculty, students and alumni from the U of A Department of Music plus friends.

Come enjoy a laid-back improvised acoustic percussion set. You may find instruments you recognize, instruments you don't recognize, objects you never imagined could be instruments, and you might even find yourself joining in on the fun in this improvised and interactive set!

At home performing in concert halls, nature preserves and in parking lots next to dumpsters, Thought Form Collective is a percussion-centered chamber ensemble specializing in experimental and improvised music. Founded in 2019, this New Music ensemble performs pieces ranging from interactive aleatoric works to long-form electro-acoustic improvisations. Through a mix of curated and synthesized sounds, Thought Form Collective now explores the Silent Film Era, evoking the tension between nostalgia and progress.

Weekend Starts runs from 5-7 p.m. every Friday night through mid-October at the Lower Ramble, across West Avenue from the Fayetteville Public Library. Parking is available at the outdoor lot south of the Fayetteville Public Library, between West and School Avenues. The concert takes place hereWeekend Starts is a collaboration between the city of Fayetteville, the U of A Department of Music, the Community Creative Center and Creative Spaces at Mount Sequoyah.
